Mark, I appreciate your view and you might right.

I did not vote for 21 years. The presidents during that period were Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower. I then voted a couple of times and we had Kennedy and Johnson. That carried me to 1969. Minimum wage, in today’s dollar, peaked in 1965 but in general those were good times and the momentum carried Nixon to 1974, the year wage earners income began to decline from it’s 1973 peak.

So, for roughly 2/3rds of my life through that period, I got very good results without voting about equivalent to the next 1/3 when I did vote.

Since, the low income, the working poor, and the middle class have had to work harder for less. I voted in 1974 and have since. For all the good it did for low income and middle class American, I could just as well have not voted.

But, I sure as hell love looking forward to voting this year for a third party candidate that shares my values; that would be Ralph Nader. I love that almost as much as not voting for the damn plutocracy whether or not they may have preordained (rigged) the winner.

For 90 percent of Americans, wealth serves two functions. Firstly it assures our representative democracy will not be representative of the people; that we, as a plutocracy, will be governed by the wealthy. Secondly it enables philanthropy to exist. Neither serves the best interests of society.
